Vocations
As we reach the end of vocations awareness week we take some time to reflect. In the lead up to Good Shepherd Sunday, and into this week we touched on a few different vocations. While we are currently having our seminary appeal and our Day of Prayer for religious why did we also include other vocations?
With no seminarians currently from the Hamilton Diocese, we need to keep praying, pray without ceasing!
Pray for our people who answer the call to the Vocation of Marriage - may their marriage be fruitful, full of love for each other and that Jesus is the heart and centre of their families, that no matter the battles they face they keep bringing their children to Mass - we don't know what the Lord has planned for their children - we may have future priests and sisters
Pray for our Altar Servers, that they continue to serve at the Altar by assisting His priests in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass.
Pray for our Deacons, from the very beginning deacons have been serving and assisting the priests. A reference to deacons can be found in the Acts of the Apostles. “And the twelve summoned the body of the disciples and said, ‘It is not right that we should give up preaching the word of God to serve tables. Therefore, brethren, pick out from among you seven men of good repute, full of the Spirit and of wisdom, whom we may appoint to this duty'” (Acts 6:2-3).
Pray for those in the vocation of teaching - that those who teach, guide, and act as good witnesses of our faith to our Youth may be encouraged by God in the teachings of our Church.
Pray for all our sisters, we will be dedicating a week to them shortly and hearing some of their stories.
Pray for our current Priests, they have already heard and answered God's call and continue to be faithful servants. We are truly blessed in our Hamilton Diocese with our much loved Priests. They all pray for us, we can't forget to pray for them!!
You can familiarise yourself with all of our diocese priests here, as you read their names, keep them all in prayer.
Lastly, we implore you, if you have anything spare in your budget, to donate to our seminary appeal. As mentioned, we currently do not have any seminarians, however your donation can make a huge different to any future vocations of priesthood from our diocese on his spiritual journey of formation.
