Last week the Kete Kōrero team attended another virtual awards evening, this time for the Australasian Catholic Press Association Awards. The team were pleased to have a couple of our contributors recognised.

Shelly Fitness, Principal of St Patrick’s Catholic Primary School in Te Awamutu was awarded runner up in the Best Content - Education category for her article Godly Play that was published in our lockdown issue in May 2020.

Carmela Nepomuceno, a young artist from Christchurch, was awarded runner up in the Best Original Artwork category for her illustration of Blessed Carlo Acutis, the first beatified Millenial published in our November 2020 edition.

ACPA President Neil Helmore said, “Catholic media in Australia continues to strive to lift up the Church and celebrate the diversity and mission through dedicated and talented journalists, photographers and designers that make up the Catholic Press. I take this opportunity to also thank all the judges and ACPA Committee members for continuing to provide this opportunity to celebrate members achievements during this difficult period.”

You can find out more about the awards and other winners here on the ACPA Facebook Page.
